 Using nmap -- My understanding of nmap Nmap (network mapper) is like a detective for computer networks. It finds all the devices on a network and checks what doors (called ports) are open on them. It then guesses what type of devices they are , and even looks for security weakness. It is used to make sure networks are safe and working correctly.
